When you give up property/money or relationships for the sake of Christ, He promises to give you a hundredfold return—not in heaven, but in THIS life. (Mark 10:29-30)
For this reason, when we talk about giving at church, we refer to it as sowing seed, expecting a hundredfold harvest.
This is Biblical, but can easily become unbiblical.
Although mostly genuine, some ministers slightly deviate from Jesus' teaching by saying, "Have a need? Sow a seed!"
It rhymes, so we like it. But Jesus wasn't talking about needs when He told us about the hundredfold return.
In Matthew 6, Jesus taught us that we should take on the mindset of the birds regarding needs. They don't plant, or harvest, or store things up. They fly around and enjoy life because they know God will meet every need.
Did you know you can forget your needs and trust God to meet ALL of them? Just like kids trust their parents.
Don't sow for need. Sow for growth.
When you give up money for the Kingdom of God, sow it with confidence in a hundredfold return. Sow it with joy, knowing you will have even more to sow next time.

"You cannot serve God and mammon."
This might go down as one of the most misunderstood things Jesus said. But not for you, if you read on.
Mammon is a domineering force. It must be in charge. It requires complete servitude—a life devoted to money.
Many think those with a lot of money are serving mammon, but that's not the determining factor. The amount of money a person has makes no difference.
The poor serve mammon. The rich serve mammon. So, how do we know if we are serving mammon?
If money is a determining factor in our decisions, we are serving mammon. Because when we are serving God, money is never a consideration.
The only determining factor in any decision should be, "What does God want?"
If we let money shut down the vision God is birthing in our hearts, we are serving money. It sounds like, "I would love to build [insert vision], but I don't have the money."
When we serve God, we simply get started on what He calls us to do, trusting that the provision will show up along the way.
Is money making your decisions? Is it calling the shots in life? Is it the reason you took that job or moved to that city? If so, mammon is in charge of your life, and you must break free.
All it takes is a bold stance. Decide right now, "Money no longer gets a seat at the board meeting of my decisions. The only thing that matters is, what does God want?"
When mammon tries to butt in, tell it to take a hike. It's no longer in charge of your life.
