Discouraged Christianity = Rebellion

Discouragement is rebellion against God. Let me explain.

There are many, many opportunities in life to be discouraged. They range in intensity, from waking up on the wrong side of the bed to experiencing some type of tragedy.

I'm reminded of when Moses had just died and Joshua was given the responsibility to lead the easily discouraged Israelites into the promised land. He had just lost his leader and mentor, and now it was on him to lead an entire nation into a land where great enemies had to be defeated.

In this intense moment, God gave him two strong commands. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged.

This reveals something really important. Once you've conquered the temptation to fear, you'll immediately face fear's backup plan: discouragement.

Just like when you allow fear, allowing discouragement wrecks your faith. You cannot be discouraged and believe God at the same time.

That's why this wasn't a suggestion for Joshua. God gave him an absolute command: Do not be discouraged.

You don't have permission to be discouraged. So, when it comes knocking and you allow it in, you are in rebellion against God.

There is nothing in life that permits you to be discouraged. Nothing.

So you might as well decide right now to decline every opportunity to be discouraged.
