The God Called Hustle

God has a pace that we tend to fight, especially those of us who like to get a lot done and quickly.

It is easy to convince ourselves that God is pleased with those who hustle. After all, there's a lot of work to do for God. And without those who get a lot done, would anything ever get done?

Here's the definition of hustle: Forcing someone to move hurriedly.

Can you think of one time in the Bible where God was in a hurry?

Can you think of a time in your life where God was in a hurry?

The Bible says that the Kingdom of God is identified by the abundance of righteousness, peace, and joy.

When you are trying to get a lot done quickly, do you find yourself overwhelmed with peace and joy?

When I'm in a hurry, I am focused, but tense. I'm irritated by those who are not helping.

Even the pleasure that I experience at the completion of the task is not joy. It's what the Bible warns me to avoid: pride in my achievements.

There is a god that's pleased with your hustle. But it is not the God of the Bible.
