You hear things like, "We all sin every day." And, "Don't worry about sin. Grace covers it."
Nowhere in scripture are we instructed to make room for sin or to give it a pass. Rather, we are instructed to confess it, confront it, and turn away from it.
According to scripture, Jesus set us free from the power of sin. In other words, He not only forgave our sin but gave us the ability to live free from it.
It's important to understand that our righteousness is not earned by our ability to live free from sin. Our salvation is a free gift, purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ.
But this does not undermine the instruction to live free from sin. That is still the Lord's expectation, that we live in the freedom He provided for us.
This is not a contradiction. It's clarification, so we aren't deceived by the most clever lies in these last days.
If you believe that the Lord doesn't care about how you live, you will struggle with sin the rest of your days.
But if you believe the truth, that the Lord gives you both the desire and the power to do what pleases Him, you will find yourself free from the power of sin.
