Casting out demons was a huge part of the ministry of Jesus.
Along with healing the sick, it happened everywhere He went.
Even when He sent out 72 disciples, they returned absolutely thrilled that the demons had submitted to them in His name.
We see the same thing happen today. When a demon is cast out, we celebrate and rejoice.
But that's not what Jesus wants us to do. In Luke chapter 10, He plainly commands us, "Do not rejoice when demons submit to you."
Do you know why He said this? Because casting out demons should be so simple, so expected, that it is no big deal. We simply get rid of them and move on.
Rejoicing about casting out demons shows that we don't understand the overwhelming victory that is already ours. Jesus gave us authority to overcome all the power of the enemy.
There's nothing special about casting out demons. It's a guarantee, in Christ. If it's hard, it's because we need a revelation of the authority we already have.
Demons don't deserve our attention. They are nothing more than a distraction that must be dealt with quickly and then never considered again.
Keep your rejoicing where it belongs, on the miracle that your name is written in Heaven because you belong to Jesus Christ.
