If it were only about salvation, Jesus would have gone straight to the cross. But He took a beating first to make provision for you to live healed and whole in this life.
So why are so many Christians sick?
There's only one reason: doubt. However, it presents itself in many different ways.
The sneakiest of all doubts is one that makes you feel responsible by doing your "due diligence."
It's when you research online and in the Word of God, analyzing all the potential causes and solutions. You become like a doctor to find both the diagnosis and the cure.
For several years, I had a growth in one of my nostrils that completely blocked airflow. I researched, diagnosed, and tried many things, including speaking the Word in faith.
But since my focus was tied up in the mental realm, I could not hear the answer from the Holy Spirit. Truthfully, I wasn't looking to the Spirit for the answer—I was looking to my own reasoning.
Years of suffering with a nasal polyp for no reason, because the Holy Spirit had the answer the whole time.
He led me to stop something I had been doing daily for over ten years: using a certain hair gel. I finally heard the instruction, stopped, and the growth was gone in two weeks.
This is the sneakiest of all doubts because it feels responsible. But Jesus never instructed us to diagnose and find a cure. He already cured it!
It's simple. We must trust that the Holy Spirit has the answer and wants us to have it right now. Quiet your reasoning, listen to the Spirit, and do what He tells you.
If today's post stirred something in you, here’s a deeper dive based on a message I preached that unpacks this truth even more.
If salvation were the only thing God intended, Jesus would have gone straight to the cross. But He didn’t. He took a brutal beating first—making provision for you to live healed and whole in this life.
Jesus lived without shame. He never got sick. He carried no regrets. He was so far removed from sickness that He drove it out of everyone He encountered.
The ministry of Jesus revealed God’s perfect will—and that will includes healing.
“Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.” — Matthew 4:23 (NLT)
He healed every kind of disease. He healed everyone who came to Him. That’s God’s will—healing for all, every time.
If healing has already been purchased, why are so many Christians still sick?
There’s only one reason: doubt.
It’s not because God is withholding healing. It’s not because you have to beg and plead long enough. The problem is doubt—and it often hides in sneaky ways.
Maybe you’ve fasted, prayed, confessed Scripture, and still found yourself waiting. Maybe you lost someone you prayed for. These painful moments introduce doubt.
But doubt isn’t from God. It’s a barrier we must remove.
Jesus made it clear:
“‘What do you mean, ‘If I can’?’ Jesus asked. ‘Anything is possible if a person believes.’” — Mark 9:23 (NLT)
Faith brings healing. Doubt blocks it.
One of the most deceptive forms of doubt is when it disguises itself as responsibility.
It feels responsible to research symptoms, diagnose problems, and search for solutions—even mixing Scripture into the hunt. But the truth is, it’s still operating from the mind, not the Spirit.
Jesus never instructed us to self-diagnose or self-cure. He already cured it.
We are called to trust the Holy Spirit to reveal the solution. Period.
In the busyness of analyzing and researching, it’s easy to miss the quiet voice of the Spirit. And without realizing it, you put more trust in human knowledge than divine wisdom.
Healing isn’t hard. It’s simple.
You must trust that the Holy Spirit has the answer and wants you to have it right now.
It’s not about earning a healing through effort. It’s about receiving it through trust.
Humility is key to overcoming doubt.
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” — 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NLT)
Pride tries to fix everything. Pride leans on its own understanding.
Humility says, “I can’t do this. Lord, I trust You completely.”
Remember the father of the boy possessed by a mute spirit?
“The father instantly cried out, ‘I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!’” — Mark 9:24 (NLT)
That’s humility.
That’s faith.
It wasn’t about pretending he didn’t struggle. It was about bringing his struggle to Jesus.
Jesus told His disciples:
“Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.” — Mark 11:22-23 (NLT)
Notice He didn’t say, "Pray harder," or "Research more."
He said, “Believe without doubt.”
Healing belongs to those who believe. Full stop.
After struggling to cast out a demon, the disciples asked Jesus why they failed. He replied:
“You don’t have enough faith... I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible. But this kind of demon won’t leave except by prayer and fasting.” — Matthew 17:19-21 (NLT)
It wasn’t a lack of faith—it was the presence of doubt.
Prayer and fasting aren’t religious duties. They are relational gateways. They connect us intimately with God, strip away doubt, and heighten sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s voice.
Fasting doesn’t twist God’s arm. It quiets your soul.
One of the biggest lies Christians believe is that healing might come "in God’s timing."
This belief produces doubt.
Healing was purchased 2,000 years ago. It’s already yours. You don’t need to wait for some mysterious timing. You need to believe it’s yours now.
When you question God’s timing regarding healing, you’ve engaged in a form of doubt that delays the miracle.
Let the Word settle it:
“By His wounds you are healed.” — 1 Peter 2:24 (NLT)
Not will be.
Not might be.
**You are healed.**
The Holy Spirit knows exactly what needs to happen for your healing to manifest. Whether it’s a word of wisdom, a lifestyle adjustment, or an instant miracle, He’s ready to lead you into wholeness.
But He’s not shouting above the noise.
You have to quiet your reasoning, humble yourself, and tune your ear to His voice.
Healing is already yours. It’s waiting on your trust.
You don’t have to figure it out.
You don’t have to earn it.
You don’t have to strive.
You simply believe that the Holy Spirit knows exactly what to do—and listen.
Receive your healing. Walk in it boldly.
And never again let the sneaky voice of doubt steal what Jesus paid for.
