There's a good chance you know someone who had been sick recently. Some are testing positive for COVID, and others aren't even when they have the same symptoms.
In times like these, if we don't guard our faith, fear will run our lives.
Let me be real with you. COVID is a real virus that has caused people to die prematurely. I know a few who have suffered this fate, and it's very upsetting.
It makes me want to blame whoever gave it to them. But I know they aren't the enemy. COVID isn't even the enemy; fear is.
Fear is like the annoying salesman going door-to-door in your neighborhood. You don't want to let him in, but his sales pitch is pretty good, so you let him in anyways.
He works hard to convince you that fear will protect you, and even protect others. But it turns out, fear does neither.
The only thing fear does is weaken our immune system, and cause us to act in a way that hurts those around us.
It's time to punch fear in the throat, and it starts by changing what we say.
Fear says, "What if I get the virus and die? What if I give it to someone else and they die? What if, what if, what if..."
Faith says, "God has given my body everything it needs to destroy this virus and all the other ones out there. If I experience symptoms, I'll stay home and rest (not worry) while my body experiences a complete recovery."
In the words of Jesus:
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." (John 14:27)
Be encouraged, my friend. Trust God. He will see you through.
